5086 aluminum sheet has wide application in the marine industry. Corrosion resistance is excellent. 5086 is commonly used in the construction of ship hulls (due to stress corrosion cracking resistance), pressure vessels, applications requiring greater formability than 5083, restricted to operating temperatures less than 150oF.
5086 aluminum sheet is a medium to high strength non-heat-treatable alloy. 5086 has good weldability and is more formable than alloy 5083.
