In the aluminum sheet industry, there are many types of aluminum plate. According to the production process, aluminum sheets can be divided into cold rolled aluminum plate and hot rolled aluminum plate. 

The difference between cold-rolled aluminum plate and hot-rolled aluminum plate is mainly due to the difference in production process: cold rolling is processed by a casting machine into a cast roll and processed by a cold rolling mill; and hot rolling is performed by heating an aluminum ingot and melting at a high temperature. It is cast into a slab, which is rolled by a hot rolling mill after being milled and homogenized and annealed. Secondly, the raw material supply is different: the difference between the two is different in the supply of the blank. The hot-rolled billet is cast aluminum ingot-heating-rolling into rolls for rolling, and the cold-rolled billet is cast-rolling-cold rolling. Furthermore, due to the different production processes, the performance of the cold rolled aluminum sheet and the hot rolled aluminum sheet is different: the surface quality of the hot-rolled aluminum sheet is good, the mechanical properties and the ductility are strong, and the oxidation effect is good.

The cold-rolled aluminum plate is processed by hot-rolled aluminum plate at normal temperature, and is cold-rolled by hot rolling through continuous cold deformation. The mechanical properties are relatively poor and the hardness is too high. Therefore, the cold-rolled aluminum plate is mostly used for molds and hot rolling. The aluminum plate has deep drawing and bending properties, so it is suitable for deep processing.

So how do you distinguish between cold rolled aluminum plate and hot-rolled aluminum plate? Firstly, it can be judged by visual observation that the surface of the hot rolled aluminum plate is usually brighter. Secondly, the elongation can be tested. Generally, the elongation of the hot rolled aluminum plate is higher than that of the cold rolled aluminum plate; the difference can be seen through the crystal image. Hot rolling is a processed structure that has undergone hot deformation of more than 90%, and is simultaneously recrystallized during hot rolling. Therefore, the grain of the strip is fine and the properties are uniform, while the middle layer of the cold rolled strip has a feather-shaped columnar crystal distribution.
