How to strengthen an aluminum plate?

Different industries and fields have different requirements for the performance of aluminium plate. In mechanical processing and other industries, the hardness of aluminium sheet plate is particularly strict, which requires hardening treatment in the production process of aluminium sheet to improve the hardness of aluminium sheet and meet the performance requirements. At present, there are two main processing methods: processing strengthening and solution strengthening.



1. Processing strengthened aluminum plate for sale


Processing hardening is also called cold work hardening, which means that the tooling plate aluminiumis cold deformed below the recrystallization temperature, such as forging, calendering, drawing, etc. During cold deformation, the dislocation density inside the aluminum sheet increases, and intertwines with each other to form cellular structure, which hinders the dislocation movement. The larger the deformation degree, the more serious the dislocation entanglement is, the greater the deformation resistance and the higher the strength are. The degree of strengthening after cold deformation varies with the degree of deformation, the temperature of deformation and the nature of the material itself. When the same material is cold deformed at the same temperature, the greater the deformation degree, the higher the strength and the lower the plasticity.


2. Solution strengthened aluminum alloy plate


Adding some alloy elements to pure aluminium to form infinite solid solution or finite solid solution can not only obtain high strength, but also obtain good plasticity and good pressure processing performance. Copper, magnesium, manganese, zinc, silicon and nickel are the most commonly used alloying elements in solution strengthening of general aluminium sheets. Generally, limited solid solutions are formed in the alloying of aluminium sheets, such as Al-Cu, Al-Mg, Al-Zn, Al-Si, Al-Mn binary alloys, and all of them have large ultimate solubility, which can play a greater role in solid solution strengthening.


How to strengthen an aluminum plate


It should be noted that the hardness of the strengthened aluminium flat plate will be significantly improved, but its hardness can not be continuously improved; when the upper limit of hardness is reached, no matter what method, it can not continue to improve the hardness of the aluminium sheet, only choose the alloy with higher basic hardness.


Aluminum plate supplier and cut plate is utilized in aerospace, tool and die, machinery, heavy duty structures, marine, truck and rail car applications. It is also used for armor plating for military vehicles. Aluminum, when passed between rollers under considerable pressure, gets thinner and the length increases. This is the process that creates aluminum plate and sheet. Aluminum plate is required in the creation of airplane sections, structures, custom mould work, boat and ship structural support, appliance, mechanical machined and sawed articles of light weight and high strength requirements. In addition, because of it's very light weight and exceptional strength, particularly at extremely cold temperatures, Aluminum plate is used for spacecraft fuel tanks and cyrogenic applications. An interesting property is that the colder it gets, the stronger it becomes.
